SRBG uses Kraaft as construction site monitoring software

On January 26, 2022, we met Geoffrey Laguardia and Abdelhakim Bouaouilou, construction manager and site manager at SRBG Saint-Germain-en-Laye. A subsidiary of the Eurovia group, which has 43,000 employees, this company specializes in road and various network works. For several months, Geoffrey and Abdelhakim have been using Kraaft on the project to extend a LIDL logistics platform in the 78. ‍

The challenges of SRBG before using

The difficulty of the project, divided into twenty lots, is cohabitation with the other companies. For SRBG, which deals with earthworks, road construction, sanitation and soil treatment, damage and discomfort on the construction site are a daily matter. “There, we put some gravel back on: we plugged in because there was a small subsidence in the concrete veil, but it was not up to us to do it” explains Abdelhakim. These hazards are not always well explained to the project manager. And the customer, who cannot be on the construction site every day, often lacks visibility.

To document such events, Abdelhakim always keeps a small notebook in his pocket. In the evening, when he no longer manages the dozen team leaders and workers working on the project, he writes reports to the office that he sends by email, with the photos he takes from his phone or that he receives on WhatsApp. “The problem with WhatsApp is that it's a catchall. (...) But managers have a good sense of instinct, there is a fear of switching to a new tool.” The telephone call is also practical for communicating about these unexpected construction sites, but for Geoffrey, who receives dozens of them a day, the volume is difficult to manage.

How does Kraaft help you?

“Kraaft helps us to follow up and present the various hazards to customers, with this we save time and explain the subjects better” explains Geoffrey. “I use it every day, like Facebook or WhatsApp,” continues Abdelhakim. “At the beginning, the chefs told me we have WhatsApp: why are we going to take Kraaft? (...) We started to understand when we saw the possibility of classifying all the problems.”

The public works agency had to explain an unforeseen event that dated from 5 months ago. In a few clicks, via a search by event, chronological or cartographic, Geoffrey was able to find the event in question. And generate an anomaly sheet in market format. “The customer noticed the quality of the reports” underlines the construction manager.

Yesterday I had an appointment on another construction site at 9 am, we had an unexpected event here at 8 am, and well in 20 minutes I had time to generate a report in my car, following the photos sent by the manager. (...) I just had to do an export via the application: everything was dated, classified and geo-located, and before my appointment the report was already sent to the customer. (Geoffrey Laguardia, construction manager at SRBG Saint-Germain-en-Laye)

But Kraaft is also used to communicate the positive progress of the construction site. “I use it to advertise the construction site. I highlight my work, I also use some photos for my Linkedin.” underlines Abdelhakim. The photos of the markings became a reflex in the evening, to show the teams that they had been put in place. A very interesting use on maintenance leases, important markets for companies based in Île-de-France.
