CIRKAD uses Kraaft as construction site monitoring software

On March 29, 2022, we met Samuel Karim and David Le Gern, technician and commercial developer for La Bonne Prise. The Toulouse company belongs to the CIRKAD group, created by Ghislain Gardes and Nicolas Vasseur in 2015. This group of companies, which has a turnover of €4.5M for 50 employees only 6 years after its creation, specializes in public lighting, VRD, electricity/HVAC/plumbing works and electric charging stations. Samuel and David, who have been Kraafters for almost a year, tell us about their experience.

CIRKAD challenges before using Kraaft

“My role is to install electric charging stations for cars” begins Samuel, who welcomes us to the construction site in Colomiers. In this type of project, communication with the client is essential, whether businesses, condominiums or individuals. Especially since La Bonne Prise manages a large number of files per year, and that it is essential to guarantee the same level of quality for each project.

The other challenge of the fast-growing group is to offer future employees easy to use and effective digital tools to help them in their daily work, and convince them to join the company.

A simple tool for employees and adapted to public works

“When I arrived, I was surprised to see an SME using an application like Kraaft to facilitate communication between construction site and office. I found it very fun and it's what you need (...) regardless of the person's computer skills, there is no subject. Kraaft is child's play,” explains David.

And indeed the principle is simple: for each new file, David creates a news feed on Kraaft. The mobile application interface, similar to WhatsApp, then allows Samuel to upload photos, voice notes, videos, or forms directly from the field. If he has questions, he can ask them to David who answers him directly in the construction site discussion, and who in turn shares up-to-date plans, a new estimate or technical recommendations.

“When I do my visits I do everything on Kraaft, I take photos with my smartphone, behind I send them to my files and all that is super smooth” continues David. The application also offers integration with SharePoint, which allows all site photos to be automatically stored on the company's server. “I've been using Kraaft since I started so I don't even know how I would have done without it. What I am doing here I would have done by email, or I don't really know, but it's anything but simple. With Kraaft it's fast and efficient,” continues the salesperson and developer.

“The handling is very intuitive. Now, for each site, I have a conversation that corresponds to my site, it simplifies the organization (...) I use Kraaft every day for planning and construction” adds Samuel.

Better traceability of construction site hazards

“When technicians have a question or a problem, we have the Kraaft reflex. They send us the photo directly on the right conversation (...) instantly we have the information and we can answer their problem” explains David.

The latest example: the company had to take over a cable duct for aesthetic reasons. “I signed an estimate for a customer who has a traditional Toulouse house facade made of red briquettes. Unfortunately, when you have to install a charging station, you have to connect to the board and there is therefore a cable run to do. So we painted the passage to try to mask it but the color is not exactly the same as the briquette and the person refused. We had to pass the cables differently and get an estimate again (...) We always try to adapt and react so that the customer is happy” testifies David. In this example, it is essential to communicate well with the customer and to explain the difficulties encountered on the construction site.

“At each stage of the construction site, I send photos to my superiors so that they can see the progress of the site. I often take photos of the trenches on Kraaft before plugging in to show that we put the cable trays correctly” adds Samuel.

The great benefit of Kraaft here is traceability on all construction sites. David, who is not on site every day, can see at a glance from his computer the progress that Samuel reports to him from his smartphone. And output Word reports in one click.

“I use Kraaft every day, because every day I have visits to construction sites or I have to communicate with the construction site (...) Not a day goes by that I don't use it.” (David Le Gern, technician and sales developer for La Bonne Prise)
