Urbaine de Travaux and Darras and Jouanin from the Fayat group use Kraaft as site monitoring software.
On March 29, 2022, we went to meet Eric Peuple, group leader at Urbaine de Travaux/Darras and Jouanin. A Kraafer for over a year, he tells us about his experience.

The challenges of Darras and Jouanin before using Kraaft
Darras et Jouanin is a recognized company: it is involved in the installation and rehabilitation of drinking water pipes, heat and sanitation networks. Belonging to the Fayat group, the company, whose headquarters are located in Viry-Chatillon, generates around €45M in turnover.
“At the moment, we are working a lot on sewer rehabilitation, such as this type of construction site on Rue de Leverrier (...) style cracks or plasters to be repeated, to avoid leaks and the sewers from collapsing” explains Eric to us. The first challenge in urban areas is to have a good relationship with local residents. “We also have contracts with strict deadlines and environmental standards (...) for example we use a B100 generator (based on frying oil)” explains Eric.
The problem is that despite these monitoring challenges, it is impossible to be on site every day. “I have 4 construction managers and 8 team leaders for about twenty sites” testifies Eric. “I try to be everywhere but I can't go every day.”
Ease of adoption by team leaders
“Kraaft, I've been using it for a year and a half, my site managers also use it daily (...) it was very well received” comments Eric. In just a few days, my staff teams got the hang of it. “Today, a construction site without Kraaft, I don't think of it.”
The operation is simple: for each site, the construction manager creates a conversation on Kraaft. Site managers upload photos, videos, or voice notes. Even on CrossCall laptops, the application does not take up memory and the interface, similar to WhatsApp, is used in a few minutes by everyone. “It's a construction site news feed” testifies Eric.
“Kraaft allows me to save time and to monitor construction sites in real time,” he continues. The advantage is that all photos are time stamped and geo-located. So if you want to find an event, even months later, you can explore the construction site with a chronological thread or on a satellite map.
More transparency on additional work
“The tool allows us to save documents and photos, so if we have a complaint to make to the customer we have a history to search for the items” explains Éric to us. A markup, a picket mark, a third party company that degrades the network: everything is traced on Kraaft thanks to the photo reflex taken by the team leaders.
The advantage is that in one click, it is possible to generate anomaly reports on the customer format. Communication is therefore professional and responsive. Nature of the ground, late delivery, network crossroads: the work of the teams is better valued and the project management is informed in real time about the difficulties of the site.
“In particular, we issue pre-work visit reports for the client” thanks to the application, specifies Éric. More transparency, and the voice of the site manager: two elements of trust to consolidate the relationship with the project owner.

A tool that integrates with business processes
“I have integrated standard task lists for my projects, to make life easier for my managers and then for us to find our way around” continues Éric. In fact, Kraaft makes it possible to add task monitoring to guarantee the quality of the site. DICT, road regulations, marking and picketing, execution of work and then lifting of reservations: each stage validation is simply traced on the construction site news feed with photo evidence.
The application also makes it possible to store site documents, and offers integration with SharePoint and Kizeo Forms, so that all construction site elements are centralized in a single interface. “Kraaft has teamed up with Kizeo (on security services for example, editor's note), and the two associated software is very complete for us” affirms Éric. The advantage is also that all the information in the construction log is found in the correct tree structure in the SharePoint folder.
“My site managers use it daily (...) today, a construction site without Kraaft I don't think of it.” (Eric Peuple, group leader at Urbaine de Travaux)
