Locatra uses Kraaft as construction site monitoring software

On January 19, 2022, we met Azzedine Bakiri, site manager at Locatra. A subsidiary of the Belgian group Infra International, which has 2,600 employees, this company specializes in electrical and gas network works.

The challenges of Locatra before using Kraaft

The Travaux en Croissance agency works exclusively on Parisian networks, and the urban context is not always easy to carry out projects successfully. “At the moment, we are starting to renovate an Enedis artery to replace high-voltage cables” tells us Azzedine. The construction site crosses the rue de Sèvres with several branches in the rue du Bac, in front of Sciences Po, and continues towards Matignon and the ministries. “In this neighborhood, there are always demonstrations. At each event, construction sites must be secured by order of the town hall or the police. (...) We had a bit of breakage, one day I even saw one of our containers overturned on TV.”

In this kind of context, you have to ask for permits all the time, keep track of all stopping points that are not the responsibility of the company, and be prepared for surprise checks by Enedis.

“Before, breakpoints were sent by email to a secretary in the North so that she could formalize them in the life of the construction site in order to integrate them into the attachments.” Today, some contractors have developed their own tools to report these construction events (ePlan for Enedis and TravoDoc for GRDF). But the adoption of all this software and the administrative burden are not adapted to the reality on the ground, and many employees rely on the WhatsApp solution or simple photos by SMS.

How does Kraaft help you?

“I have 3 construction sites on my Kraaft. The app is simple, for me it's a toy” continues Azzedine. “It's like creating a WhatsApp group per site, but in a professional tool. (...) We have access to all the history of the construction site, we can see the documents in case of an inspection”. The advantage is to have access to all the site photos, time-stamped and geo-located, and to find the history of events at any time, either in chronological order or on a satellite map.

But for Azzedine, Kraaft is not just a messenger! The application, which digitizes the construction log, also makes it possible to report stopping points. “The other day, Gucci delayed our construction site because their red carpet went where we needed to set up to work. And that, for example, is a stopping point, which is why it is important to have stopping points in Kraaft.” With a simple photo, a video or a voice note, the information goes back. The construction manager can react in real time from his computer to provide answers, and generate a report in one click that he shares with the customer.

“This morning, we passed the low voltage, but as they did not release we have to justify the delay, so we show the proof that we have broken the concrete and we send it to the customer”.

The benefits

✅ Easy to handle by site managers

✅ Increase in margins thanks to better valuation of hazards

✅ Responsiveness in communicating with the customer in case of breakpoints

✅ Compliant and up-to-date documents accessible in one click in case of checks

✅ Centralization of site data on a dematerialized construction log, integration with the company's EDM

“The app is simple, for me it's a toy (...) Frankly, I recommend anything TP to everyone.”
